Great Barbet (Psilopogon virens) is the largest of the barbets and is a resident breeder in the lower-to-middle altitudes of the Himalayas, ranging across northern India, Nepal and Bhutan, northeastern India and some parts of Southeast Asia. It is usually shy and tends to stick to dense forest canopy, where it is hard to spot, a loud hooting call being the only indication of its presence
